Keeping Christmas in your Heart + Christmas Blessings Giveaway!

Keeping Christmas in Your Heart + $500 Giveaway!

*Make sure to check out the giveaway toward the end of this post – you’re not going to want to miss it!*

I’ll admit it. I love to go all out for Christmas. The decorations, recipes, and activities are kind of irresistible!

Christmas is when we can take a break from the everyday schedule and learn about other places and people, their culture and traditions. What can I say? Christmas around the World studies were a big deal at my house.

But there was something I was missing…something my son reminded me of in that sweet but profound way that only kids can.

“Why do we only focus on Christmas day? Aren’t we supposed to remember that Jesus is with us all year long?”

Out of the mouths of babes.

Now, don’t get me wrong. We still celebrate Christmas. I still decorate, we still cook like crazy, and we treasure our family traditions. But Christmas isn’t just about that one day, or even the month. It’s far more important than that.

Christmas is about Immanuel. “God with us.” He’s with us, among us, there for us to know better, each and every day.

That’s pretty incredible, and deserves way more than a day.

But how do you do that? It’s actually pretty easy. Here are some of our favorite ideas and resources!

Day by Day Kids Bible

Day By Day Kids Bible

This was easily one of my son’s favorite Bibles. It’s written in a way that’s easy for kids to understand and apply, and the daily reading schedule helps them keep up! It’s a wonderful Bible to use for morning devotions or bedtime.

Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls

NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls Pink, Imitation Leather

You’ve probably seen the coloring/journaling Bibles for adults. You may even have one – I love working in mine! The drawings tend to be too complex for little hands, though. Now there’s a Bible made just for tween to teen girls, designed to help them spend time in the Word and study it more deeply. (There’s a teal version, too!)

Art Projects

Art projects, like this one from Table Life Blog, can be a great conversation starter and devotional object lesson. It’s fun to do at Christmas time, but easy to add in all year long!

The Jesus Storybook Bible

The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name
By Sally Lloyd-Jones / ZonderKidz

Every story whispers his name. A Bible like no other, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God’s great story of salvation–and at the center of their own story too!

Christmas Music Unit Studies

If you’re anything like me, Christmas music isn’t just for December. The songs of Christmas make great studies all year round, and they’re super easy to add into your schedule with these free resources from Year Round Homeschooling!

Apples to Apples Bible Edition

Apples to Apples Card Game, Bible Edition

Games are an amazing way to encourage your kids to gain a deeper understanding of God’s word – and have fun as a family doing so! It might seem odd, but this game has led to some amazing conversations in our family. It can do the same in yours!

Daily Blessings

There are a lot of little ways you can teach your kids to hold Christmas in their hearts by blessing and encouraging others. In the middle of the daily rush, though, it can be hard to think of them! That’s why I’ve compiled a free printable for you to use. Just cut the strips apart, keep them in a cute jar, and pull one out for your kids to complete!

Well, there you have it…some of my family’s favorite resources for keeping Christmas in your heart throughout the year. I hope they’re helpful to you!

But…there’s more!

  1. If we had an extra $500 before the holidays, we would be blessed by being able to afford gifts for extended family and friends. I usually just give cookies and zucchini bread to everybody. It would be nice to buy a little something to go with the cookies and bread this year!

  2. For over a year me and my husband have endured so much hardships, health wise and financially. This would be a true blessing for us!!

  3. We are a one income household. Winning $500 would be a blessing. It would be spent on something special for my kids.

  4. This gift would be a huge blessing for us. We are moving the week before Christmas. We will be going into full time ministry and on full support. This is really exciting and yet a little bit scary too! To win this would be a great encouragement to us for sure!

Let me know what you think!
